Long Rail Gully Merlot is a soft rich wine with subtle, fine structure. It is bursting with blackberry and stewy fruits.

A dry cool year combined with low cropping levels produced exceptional quality fruit.

The fruit was hand picked and gently destemmed and crushed before being fermented in open top temperature controlled fermenters. The wine underwent secondary fermentation in barrel and was then aged for one year in French oak barrels.

On the nose the wine shows rich plum, currant and fruitcake aromas, which follow through to the palate. The medium weight palate is well balanced and velvety in texture. The wine has a very long smooth finish, which makes for a very supple, easy to drink wine.

The Merlot has developed nicely with bottle age. Drink now or be rewarded with careful cellaring.
